PED 216 is a 2cr. course designed to help students develop their ability to demonstrate, teach, and apply strength training principles as they relate to personal fitness and athletic training. Students will be expected to demonstrate and explain basic strength training lifts, and explain and apply strength training principles and programing variables to a variety of individual, group, and team settings. Designed to supplement PED 154.
This course is designed to further understanding, analysis, and comprehension of weight lifting exercises and techniques.
a. Students will develop an understanding of different core and auxiliary weight lifting exercises, movements, and muscle groups.
b. Students will research and examine various aspects of common exercise programs
c. Compare and develop a sport and fitness specific workout programs
d. Incorporate course material and participate in a healthy lifestyle by lifting twice per week
